Joe served 27 years in the Canadian military, where his problem solving skills were tested during major crises, including the Red River and Calgary floods, the Fort McMurray wildfire and operational deployments in Afghanistan. His military career honed his ability to remain calm under pressure, lead teams, and deliver results in challenging environments.
Beyond the military, Joe thrived in community engagement, participating in various organizations including a community garden group that he mentored into a successful Farm to Table dinner for 200.
"His skill, leadership and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone he helped."
Joe was deeply involved with the Veterans Association Food Bank in Edmonton from its inception until his passing in July 2025, helping other veterans secure the assistance they needed for a better future. Quick to smile, he was a friend to all who crossed his path.
